From Matilda to Oswald
The history of Infanterie Pz Kpw MK II mit 5cm KwK 38 L42 is barely unknown. A captured Matilda II with turret number 111 was sent to Terneuzen, Holland, at the and of 1942. Here, this tank was used for exercises near the harbour of Terneuzen on a landing craft. Otherwise, the Matilda 111 was modified, the turret was dismounted and replaced by a 5cm KwK 38 L/42 mounted on an another “handmade” turret, equipped with two MG 08/15 machine-guns. This beutepanzer, nicknamed “Oswald”, was sent to Eastern Front, but his destiny is unknown.
World of Tanks
On WoT the Matilda Beutepanzer could fit the role of a captured tank destroyer, tier III or IV premium (gift tank?), with good rate of fire, slow mobility, very well armored hull.

La storia del Infanterie Pz Kpw MK II mit 5cm KwK 38 L42 è appena conosciuta. Un Matilda II catturato (in Francia) con torretta numero 111 fu inviato a Terneuzen, Olanda, alla fine del 1942. Qui, il carro venne usato per esercitazioni nei pressi dell’omonimo porto della cittadina olandese. Il veicolo subì una pesante modifica, la torretta originale venne tolta e sostituita con una casamatta brandeggiabile protetta su tre lati, sulla quale venne montano un 5cm KwK 38 L/42 e due mitragliatrici MG 08/15. Probabilmente l’intenzione fu quella di aumentarne la potenza di fuoco e la velocità di tiro con i mezzi a disposizione sul momento. Il veicolo, soprannominato “Oswald”, venne trasformato in un cacciacarri. Si apprende che venne inviato sul fronte orientale, ma il suo destino rimane al momento sconosciuto.

Su WoT il Matilda Beutepanzer potrebbe adattarsi al ruolo di un cacciacarri catturato, livello III o IV premium (carro armato regalo?), Con un buon ritmo di fuoco, mobilità lenta, scafo molto ben corazzato.
