* In March 1941, the Kirov and Izhora plants were ordered to work on shielding the KV-1 tank. The final blueprints were reviewed on May 13, 1941. The schemes were approved on June 19. It was required to strengthen the frontal part, as well as the sides of the turret and hull. By June 16, 1941, three shielded tanks had already been assembled at the Kirov plant. Production continued until the end of July of the same year.
