This version of AMX 30B2 is almost identical to the previous one, except for the presence of a common upgrade: reactive armor. In the mid-1990s, GIAT developed a package known as “BRENUS”, 112 bricks of explosive reactive armor (ERA) to be fitted on the turret and the front of the hull of the AMX 30B2. Brenus or “Brennus” was issued only to two tank regiments, the 1er/ 2e Chasseurs, that were part of France’s rapid reaction force.
