History
M24 Chaffee No. 594 was a prototype of light tank developed in 1946 and was assembled using the track of a German Sd. Kfz 8 German Hanomag.
During 1946, there was an attempt to equip with the tracks and suspension of a German 12-ton 3/4 track prime mover a light tank, designed Light Tank M24 No. 594.
The turret was totally changed, the overall weight was reduced (to approximately 32,500lb) to match with the capacity of German suspension. The results were a modified Light Tank M24 with a 16″ -needle bearing track and interlaced suspension. The hull was raised approximately seven inches as a result of the modifications.
