“Mountains have always fascinated me. Even when I was a civilian, I dreamed of standing on a snowy peak, admiring the breathtaking beauty of nature, and feeling the freedom in the air. But as they say, be careful what you wish for. Don’t get me wrong, it’s amazing and gorgeous here, and the command did a great job with the equipment… However, I didn’t expect to suffer from severe mountain sickness on the first ascent! There’s no medicine for that here. The only thing that helps is painkillers. Just yesterday, I was filling up our car with gas, wondering how long I could endure this. The lieutenant told us we wouldn’t stay at this altitude for too long. But what’s next: higher or lower? That’s the question.”
