Here are the main changes that you can expect in the Common Test of Update 1.24:
Maneuvers
Maneuvers is a special game mode that pits clans against each other in a series of battles for territory and resources. In this mode, you can use special vehicles on duty, earn rewards, and compete for fame and glory. In Update 1.24, we have made some changes and improvements to this mode, such as:
- Added the functionality to restore vehicles to duty in the detachment window. This will allow you to quickly and easily return your vehicles to the battlefield, without leaving the detachment screen.
- Updated the rewards in the mode. You can now earn more bonds, credits, and other valuable items for your participation and performance in the mode.
- Added an auction with vehicles for bonds. You can now bid for rare and exclusive vehicles using your bonds, and add them to your collection.
- Changed the battle type to Encounter mode, with the base capture time set to 100 seconds. This will make the battles more dynamic and exciting, and encourage more aggressive and tactical gameplay.
- Changed the number of points in the event progression. You can now progress faster and easier through the stages of the event, and unlock more rewards.
- Added a bonus for the first victory of the day in each vehicle on duty. You can now earn more points and rewards for your first win in each vehicle, and boost your progression.
- Added logs for clan Fame Points, progression resets, restoring vehicles to duty, and changing the Prime Time. You can now track and review your clan’s activities and achievements in the mode, and see how you and your clanmates are doing.
- Added the functionality to quickly view your position or your clan’s position on the Leaderboard screen upon clicking a block with your position at the bottom of the screen. You can now easily and conveniently check your ranking and progress in the mode, and compare yourself with other players and clans.
- Added the functionality for quick view of players from your clan on the Leaderboard screen. You can now see how your clanmates are performing in the mode, and support them with your likes and comments.
- Added search by players and clans on the Leaderboard screen. You can now find and follow any player or clan that you are interested in, and see their stats and results in the mode.
- Added a context menu displayed upon right-clicking the area of a player’s nickname on the Leaderboard and Restoration to Duty screens. You can now access more options and actions for any player that you encounter in the mode, such as viewing their profile, sending a message, inviting to a platoon, or reporting them.
- Fixed the issue of progress being reset again if someone has already done it at the moment of progress reset confirmation. You can now avoid losing your progress and rewards due to accidental or malicious resets by other players.
- Fixed the issue of players’ vehicles automatically receiving the Out of Commission status if they join a clan at the first Stage. You can now join any clan that you want without affecting your vehicles’ status in the mode.
Hints in Battle
Devs want to make World of Tanks more accessible and enjoyable for new players, and help them learn the basics of the game. That’s why we have added some new features that will provide useful tips and hints to new players in battle, such as:
- Added loading screens that explain the basics of combat mechanics for new players. These screens will show you some important information and advice on how to play the game, such as how to aim, shoot, move, spot, and use cover. You can enable/disable these screens in the game settings.
- Added contextual hints that are displayed under certain circumstances and explain the mechanics of the current situation to new players. These hints will help you understand what is happening in the battle, and what you should do to improve your performance. For example, you will see hints on how to use consumables, repair modules, use different types of shells, deal with different types of enemies, and more. You can enable/disable these hints in the game settings.
Support of the 32-bit game client discontinued
World of Tanks is a constantly evolving and improving game, and we always strive to deliver the best gaming experience to our players. However, to achieve this goal, devs need to use the latest technologies and innovations that are compatible with modern hardware and software.
Unfortunately, supporting a technically outdated architecture, such as 32-bit operating systems, can limit our potential and hinder our progress. It can also waste our time and resources that could be better spent on developing new features and content for the World of Tanks project.
That’s why we decided to gradually phase out support for 32-bit operating systems, and focus on optimizing the game for 64-bit operating systems. This will allow us to enhance the performance, stability, and security of the game, and offer you more possibilities and options in the future.
Devs started this transition process in September 2022, when we stopped guaranteeing client stability for players using 32-bit operating systems. Since then, developers have been encouraging you to update your operating system to x64-bit, to avoid any potential issues or problems with the game.
The next stage of this transition will take place in March 2024, with the release of Patch 1.24 of WOT. From this update onwards, it will no longer be possible to run the 32-bit client through the launcher or WGC. If you still want to use the 32-bit game client, you will have to go to the game/win32 directory and manually run the WorldOfTanks.exe file.
However, devs strongly advise you not to do that, as the 32-bit game client will not receive any further updates or support from us. This means that you will not be able to access the latest features, content, and events that we will introduce in the game. You will also miss out on the benefits of the improved graphics, sound, and physics that the 64-bit game client will offer.
Therefore, we urge you to update your operating system to x64-bit as soon as possible, to continue playing World of Tanks without any interruptions or inconveniences. This will ensure that you can enjoy the game to the fullest, and take advantage of all the opportunities and enhancements that we will provide in the future.
Devs appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter, and devs hope that you will join us in embracing the new era of World of Tanks. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our customer support team. Thank you for your loyalty and passion for the game!
Clan Emblems
During the Common Test, clan emblems from the main servers will be replaced with default clan emblems. This is done to avoid any confusion or misunderstanding between the test server and the live server. You will be able to use your original clan emblems again when the update goes live.
Changes to Technical Characteristics of Vehicles
In Update 1.24, devs have also made some changes to the technical characteristics of some vehicles, based on our testing and your feedback. These changes are aimed at balancing and improving the performance and gameplay of these vehicles. Here are the changes that devs have made:
U.S.S.R.
BT-5
This tank is a fast and agile light tank, with a rapid-firing 37 mm gun. However, it also has a low ammo capacity, which limits its effectiveness and flexibility. To address this issue, we have increased the ammo rack capacity for the 37 mm automatic OKB-2 gun in the BT-5 turret from 165 to 168 shells. This will give you more shells to use in battle, and reduce the risk of running out of ammo.
U.S.A.
The following vehicle has been added for testing by Supertest players: Chrysler MTC 2TC
This tank is a new premium heavy tank, with a powerful 120 mm gun, a good mobility, and a decent armor. It is a versatile and adaptable vehicle, that can perform well in different situations and roles. It is currently being tested by our Supertest players, and we will share more details and information about it in the future.
U.K.
The following vehicle has been added for testing by Supertest players: Vickers MBT Mk. 3
This tank is a new premium medium tank, with a high-penetration 105 mm gun, a good mobility, and a low profile. It is a stealthy and accurate vehicle, that can deal damage from a distance and use its camouflage and mobility to avoid enemy fire. It is currently being tested by our Supertest players, and we will share more details and information about it in the future.
France
The following vehicle has been added for testing by Supertest players: FCM 2C
Fixed Issues and Improvements
One of the issues that we fixed in this update was a rare issue of the durability of some vehicles being different in the game client and on the server due to rounding. This issue could cause some confusion and inconsistency for the players, and affect the outcome of the battles. To fix this issue, devs adjusted the durability values of some vehicles in some configurations, so that they match the values on the server. After the fix, a small number of vehicles may have their durability values in the game client increased by 10 HP. This will make the game more accurate and fair for the players.
