Time Spent Playing in Onslaught Mode Compared to Ranked Battles
In this article, we will compare the two modes of the game: Onslaught and Ranked Battles, based on one of the main indicators – the time to complete each mode.
Season of the Scarlet Pegasus
The season of the Scarlet Pegasus ended tonight, and we decided to analyze the data and see how the two modes differ. Onslaught is the current mode that replaced Ranked Battles. It is a competitive mode where players have to climb the ranks and earn rewards. However, statistics show that many players struggle to reach even the Gold rank, not to mention the Champion or Legend rank.
Players have different luck, and some, due to good qualifications, were able to achieve the Champion rank in 200 battles. But on average, we noticed that for the Champion rank, players play more than 400 battles per season. This is true even for very good players. Of course, the numbers vary and often depend more on luck than on the skill of a particular player, because the team may turn out to be completely useless and the individual skill of a player will not help.
But what interested us the most was the time that players need to spend on the mode to achieve results. Here is a comparison of the two modes:
In the annual season of Onslaught, you have to play:
- 3 seasons.
- More than 5 weeks in each season.
- More than 300+ battles in each season.
- A minimum rank of Gold, in order to get a dubious copy of the upgraded tank(!), which you can no longer obtain.
In the annual season of Ranked Battles, you had to play:
- 3 seasons.
- 2 weeks in each season.
- More than 100+ battles in each season.
- A maximum of rank 10 in division 1, in order to get a fairly good, and sometimes crap, tank.
You can also get RB tanks in Onslaught. That is why, by and large, players are now playing the mode.
As you can see, in Onslaught, players are forced to play hundreds and hundreds of battles for a dubious annual reward. We also take into account the duration of each battle in different modes, but the difference is still noticeable. And unlike in Belarus, where there were various types of concessions for unsuccessful battles in the form of rank protection, there are no concessions here. And players can drop from Champion to Silver or Bronze, which discourages any desire to play the mode.
Lastly, we want to show you the statistics of a fairly good player with a WG rating of 10,472 units, and part-time the main developer of the Onslaught mode: worldoftanks.eu/ru/community/accounts/588434522-IlIlI.
He played 578 battles in the Azure Pegasus season and 449 battles in the Scarlet Pegasus season (last season). And he surely got the Champion rank in both seasons. But we are surprised that it is considered the ABSOLUTE norm to play such a number of battles in each season.
