Another blow has rained down on the video gaming industry’s love of loot boxes yesterday. Following hot on the heels of a decision last week by the Netherlands, plucky Belgium has declared loot boxes are gambling and therefore illegal. Minister of Justice Koen Geens said publishers could risk prison sentences and fines if these games with loot boxes continue to be distributed in Belgium. The minister reasoned that minors and vulnerable players particularly, should not be confronted with ‘games of chance’ when they want some video gaming fun. FULL TEXT
I think it’s not a bad thing. They are trying to protect people from themselves, because there are so many crazy people who can’t control themselves, an example, this last days I read that a player was very very mad because he got perm ban from World Of Tanks and he said that in the last two (2) years he spent 15.000€ for this game. Can you just imagine what that means, 15.000€ in 2 years, OMG, this is just crazy. And i’m sure that there are people worse than this case, and many of them just got ruined and others don’t know that they are destroying themselves, so their governement decided to react in their place because these kind of people are too blind to see that they are in the bad way, or they are too stupid to protect themselves and they need a kick in the ass.
Am I wrong ???!!!
I know it, many f2p games are gambling and are very dangerous for kids. These games are addictive and push people to spend more and more. It’s not good. I support Belgium Government for this very important choice. And WG Games sometimes abuse in selling loot boxes. World of Warships has free loot boxes (most of the times), WoT and WoWp not and it’s a problem.
