“Velit” – An all-season style inspired by the armor of the Ancient Rome legionaries.
In the ancient Roman army, velites played the role of light infantry and were considered the most mobile type of troops. Being in the first line of attack, they threw darts at the enemy and retreated to the flanks. Velites armed themselves with short swords, and for protection they used helmets and round light shields.
To extend the life of the armor, Roman armourers used a technique called bluing. During firing in hot ash, a layer of oxides appeared on the surface of the iron, which gave it blue, gray, purple and other shades.
