World of Tanks Console: How the Cold War Economy Changes Will Affect You
Are you curious about the upcoming changes to the Cold War economy that will go live on January 30th? Do you want to know how they will impact your Tech Tree progression and Silver earnings? If so, you are not alone. Many players have asked us some great questions about these changes, and devs are here to answer them.
In this article, devs will explain the rationale behind the changes, how they will affect your gameplay, and what you can expect from the new economy. Developers will also address some of the most common questions and concerns that the community has raised. Let’s get started!
Why are devs changing the Cold War economy?
The main reason for changing the Cold War economy is to make your Tech Tree progression faster and more enjoyable. Devs know that many players find the current costs and XP requirements too high, especially in the higher tiers and Eras. Devs want to reduce the grind and frustration, and make it easier for you to unlock and upgrade your favorite tanks.
To achieve this goal, devs have reduced the Silver costs and XP requirements for tanks and modules across all Eras. They have also adjusted the Silver earn rates to reflect the new costs. These changes are designed to improve the overall progression by 25%. This means that you will need 25% fewer battles to climb from Era 1 (Post War) to top of Era 3 (Détente).
How will the changes affect Silver earnings of players?
One of the most frequently asked questions is how the changes will affect your Silver earnings after a battle. To answer this question, devs need to look at two factors: the base Silver earn and the net Silver earn.
The base Silver earn is the amount of Silver you earn before deducting the repair and resupply costs. The net Silver earn is the amount of Silver you earn after deducting the repair and resupply costs. The net Silver earn is what determines your profit or loss from a battle.
The changes will reduce the base Silver earn for all tanks in Cold War mode. However, this does not mean that you will earn less Silver overall. The reason is that the changes will also reduce the repair and resupply costs, as well as the tank and module costs. This means that you will spend less Silver on upgrading and maintaining your tanks, and have more Silver left for other purposes.
To illustrate this point, let’s look at some examples. In our previous article, devs showed you the simulated base Silver earns for two Post-War tanks: a Premium tank, the T95E3, and a Tech Tree tank, the M48A5PI Patton. Here are the average net Silver earns for those same two tanks, factoring in the repair and resupply costs:
T95E3 | M48A5PI Patton |
---|---|
Current 91,000 Silver | 43,000 Silver |
New 62,000 Silver | 25,000 Silver |
How will the changes affect XP progression for players?
Another frequently asked question is how the changes will affect your XP progression. The answer is simple: the changes will make your XP progression faster and easier.
The changes will reduce the XP requirements for tanks and modules across all Eras. This means that you will need less XP to unlock and upgrade your tanks. This also means that any excess XP you have on your tanks will be more valuable, as it can be used to unlock the next tank or become Vehicle XP.
For example, if you currently have 100k XP on a tank and you are close to unlocking the next tank, you may find that the next tank’s XP requirement has been reduced to 80k XP. In that case, you will automatically unlock the next tank, and the remaining 20k XP will become Vehicle XP for your current tank.
Devs recommend that you check your Tech Tree tanks on January 30th, when the changes go live, to see where you are in your progression. You may be pleasantly surprised by how much closer you are to your desired tanks.
What else should players know about the changes?
There are a few more things that you should know about the changes, such as:
- The changes will not affect the costs or earn rates for ammo and Consumables. However, devs will monitor the situation and make adjustments if necessary.
- The changes will not affect the costs or earn rates for Crews or Equipment. These aspects of the game are not related to the Cold War economy, and will remain unchanged.
- The changes will not affect the costs or earn rates for other modes, such as Multiplayer or War Stories. These modes have their own economies, and will remain unchanged.
