WoT Crew Update April 2024: Your Questions Answered
What’s the fate of my crews in the barracks with less than 100%?
Rest assured, all your crews, whether in the Barracks or assigned to a vehicle, will automatically level up to 100% if their major qualification level is currently less than that.
Where does my accumulated Crew XP between 50% and 100% end up? Is it wasted? Did I grind for nothing?
Absolutely not! You won’t lose any of the accumulated XP. The Crew XP you’ve collected on crews between 50% and 100% will add to the total crew experience pool and enhance the currently trained perk.
What if a crew isn’t trained for their assigned vehicle? Can I still fight in the vehicle, albeit with a penalty?
Indeed, a crew that isn’t trained for a vehicle can still participate in battle. However, they won’t enjoy any perks until you retrain them for the vehicle.
How many battles or how much Crew XP do I need to offset the penalty from a perks reset if I do it for free?
You’ll forfeit 20% of your total crew experience. The exact amount of experience depends on how many perks you’ve trained. For instance, resetting the first fully trained perk will cost you 42,012 Crew XP, equivalent to about 40 battles.
What’s the future of celebrity crew members like Arnold if they’re unassigned to a vehicle and are in the Barracks?
Don’t worry, the changes won’t affect celebrity and other special crews. They won’t face dismissal.
Can I switch my crew from one role to another?
Yes, you can now perform this operation either for 20,000 credits with a perk efficiency penalty or for 200 gold without any penalty.
What happens to the perks of a crew member covering two roles if I transfer them to a tank where only some of the role-specific perks are necessary? For example, a Radio Operator/Gunner moves to a tank where they only need the Gunner perks.
When a crew member covers two positions in one vehicle, you can re-specialize them while transferring them to a new tank, and the perks won’t reset. The Radio Operator perks will remain inactive until you retrain the crew member for a vehicle where both qualifications apply.
The current update targets quality of life enhancements concerning crew operations. We’ll improve interactions between perks and additional roles in the next crew update.
I’ve played this game for 13 years, and these changes will disrupt the setup I painstakingly built. All my effort seems wasted. Why should I keep playing?
We deeply value your engagement and hard work. If you carefully review the changes, you’ll realize that you haven’t lost any progress. You’ll retain all your XP, and we’ve strived to make the crew system more logical, accessible, and balanced for our players.
When will these changes take effect? Can I opt out of them?
The quality of life enhancements will debut with Update 1.24.1 and will apply to all servers. Unfortunately, you can’t revert the update or opt out.
The new perk efficiency system seems a bit vague. Can you provide a more specific example? What causes the % of perk efficiency to increase or decrease?
Perk efficiency pertains only to retraining operations for free or for credits. These operations will incur a penalty to perks efficiency, which you can eliminate by accumulating Crew XP in battles.
I want to review the crews in my barracks before they’re mass-dismissed. How long do I have to automatically clean up the barracks?
After logging in post Update 1.24.1, you’ll have three months (90 days) to use the convert button and dismiss unwanted crew members for crew books. Remember, this operation is irreversible and you can perform it only once. To activate this option, you must log in before the release of Update 1.25.
Can I still recruit crew members for free or for credits?
With the elimination of major qualification levels, we’ve also done away with the option to recruit crew members for credits or gold. Now, you can recruit fully trained crews at no cost.
Why does retraining my crew for free or for credits apply a percentage penalty to their efficiency? Aren’t all crews supposed to be 100% from now on?
From now on, crews will have two separate efficiency levels. Crew efficiency will never drop below 100%, but you can enhance it, for instance, with food consumables.
The perk efficiency level governs the effectiveness of perks and suffers only when you retrain for free or credits.
Isn’t imposing a penalty for retraining crew members just another way of saying they have a lower major qualification level? Doesn’t this contradict the purpose of this crew rework?
The new system eliminates penalties to a vehicle’s performance due to a crew below 100%. This change aims to level the playing field and avoid situations where a player with the same setup in the same vehicle can outperform another player because of different crew levels.
Perks are added bonuses to a vehicle and the crew. They’re more specific and require tactical finesse, unlike a direct penalty to the vehicle’s performance. The new penalty system will impact your battle performance much less.
