Historical Information
The ELC AMX-901 was the first prototype of a tank designed under the Engin LΓ©ger de Combat (light combat vehicle) program. Tests conducted in 1955 revealed many design flaws. An improved version of the tank, the AMX ELC 90 bis, was thoroughly reworked and given all necessary alterations. It differed greatly from the prototype and was essentially a brand-new vehicle.
