More About the Mechanics of Guns with a Choice of Firing Mode:
Compared to other twin-barreled tanks, the FV229 Contender allows a double-barreled shot only after changing the firing mode by pressing the X button. After switching modes, if both guns are loaded, you can fire a salvo. However, several fire characteristics and the maximum forward speed are reduced. You can switch back to single-barreled firing mode by pressing the X button. In this mode, both guns are loaded regardless of the current mode. When firing single shells, the second shell is loaded in parallel, allowing you to fire a double-barreled salvo after changing the mode. During the mode change, there is a unique animation on the muzzles of the guns.
In addition to the mechanics, the tank will feature a new sight showing the charge status of each gun, as well as new sound effects. These new mechanics will appear from level 7 to level 10 of the new British TT sub-branch.
Historical Background:
The FV229 Contender was a heavy coastal defense tank developed in the late 1950s as part of the coastal defense program. It was intended primarily for effective defense against the Soviet Army, expected on the shores of the English Channel in the event of war. The tank was planned to be equipped with a twin gun mount, capable of reliably destroying light tank landing craft and amphibious vehicles, as well as engaging vehicles on the shore. The armor was designed to provide protection not only from tank ammunition but also from naval gunfire supporting the landing. The project remained on paper.
