The machine is an extension of the concept presented by the Hägglunds project UDES 14E2. The machine was supposed to be characterized by a reduced silhouette and have a 105mm gun with a loading system. In 1974, further work on the vehicle was combined with analogous works by Bofors. As a result of this merger, the UDES 15/16 project was created. No prototype was created.
