New Soviet Destroyer:
New Soviet Tier V Destroyer Okhotnik is nearly here—sales will start soon!
Alternative Branch of Soviet Destroyers
To enhance gameplay, we made changes to existing Soviet destroyers, as well as adding an alternative branch:
The game statistics for the destroyers Kiev, Tashkent, and Ognevoi prior to the update will be displayed separately; after the update, the game statistics for these ships will be started anew. However, game statistics for the destroyer Udaloi will remain as is because its Tier has not been changed.
Main Branch Composition
The composition of the main branch of Soviet destroyers is as displayed below:
Tier | Ship Name | Changes |
II | Storozhevoi | There are no changes. |
III | Derzki | There are no changes. |
IV | Izyaslav | There are no changes. |
V | Podvoisky | This is a newly added ship. |
VI | Gnevny | This ship has been moved from Tier V to Tier VI and its characteristics were reworked. |
VII | Minsk | This is a newly added ship. |
VIII | Kiev | This ship has been moved from Tier VII to Tier VIII and its characteristics were reworked. |
IX | Tashkent | This ship has been moved from Tier VIII to Tier IX and its characteristics were reworked. |
X | Khabarovsk | There are no changes. |
The high tier ships of the main branch are based on the “destroyer flotilla leader” concept.
These ships boast better protection but their size is larger, which has a negative impact on their detectability. Instead of the stealth tactic that is usual for destroyers, they encourage players to adopt a more aggressive gameplay style with constant movement and firing at enemy ships from maximum distance.
To emphasize the updated concept of this branch, the destroyers Tashkent and Khabarovsk will get the Repair Party consumable which can now be mounted instead of the Smoke Generator consumable. These ships will be able to play well with a group of teammates, using the smoke screens set by allied ships and countering enemy destroyers.
The alternative branch becomes available starting from the destroyer Minsk.
Alternative Branch Composition
The composition of the alternative branch of Soviet destroyers is as shown below:
Tier | Ship Name | Changes |
VIII | Ognevoi | This ship has been moved from Tier VI to Tier VIII and its characteristics were reworked. |
IX | Udaloi | This ship has been moved to the alternative branch and its characteristics were reworked. |
X | Grozovoi | This is a newly added ship. |
The concept of the alternative branch is closer to multi-purpose destroyers. However, this branch has its own peculiar features.
The higher detectability of the ships in this branch is made up for by the excellent ballistic properties of their main batteries and their decent torpedo armament.
Destroyers Ognevoi, Udaloi, and Grozovoi are equipped with dual-purpose guns, and this advantage is further emphasized by the possibility to mount the “Defensive AA fire” consumable on these ships in place of the “Engine Boost” consumable.

Permanent camouflages will not be added to the player’s account in duplicates.
Balance Corrections
- Alabama ST: The number of catapult aircraft in the ship’s stock configuration was reduced from 4 to 3 for a better historical accuracy of the ship’s capabilities.
- Fubuki: Chance to be set on fire for Hull (B) has been rebalanced in line with the rules applied to Tier VI ships.
- Increased damage from HE-46 shells (all Soviet destroyers of Tier V and above, except for Gremyaschiy, which already has 1900 damage from HE-46) and 130-mm HE A (Anshan) from 1600 to 1900. This will allow Soviet destroyers to be more effective in fighting other ships of their type, and be a larger threat to cruisers.
- Indianapolis: decreased main armament reload time from 15 to 14.3 seconds. Also increased side plating armour for main locations of the ship above the citadel from 16 to 22 mm. Such armour will protect the central part of the cruiser’s side from HE shell penetration by 130mm or lower guns (Inertia Fuse for HE Shells commander skill not taken into account). Such guns are set on all destroyers (except for German Tier VI and VIII destroyers that have 150mm guns), on cruiser Atlanta and in secondary guns for many ships.
User Interface
- Added the option to display abbreviated ship names in the Minimap. This option can be enabled in the Minimap settings and will work only when the alternative battle interface mode is enabled.
- In the Ranked Battles screen, information will now be available about the number of battles played in the current season of Ranked Battles.
- In the Summary tab, the number of battles will now be displayed instead of the win rate for the “By number of battles” filter and the “All warships” parameter.
- If a ship is purchased without a Commander, a hint will now be displayed, informing the player that they can retrain a Commander from another ship of the same nation or recruit a Commander later.
- Added an option to switch user music tracks during playback, using the following key combinations: (by default) [Ctrl] + [F] — next track; [Ctrl] + [D] — previous track. Key bindings can be modified via the Controls tab.
- Added an option to specify the desired amount of Credits when exchanging Doubloons to Credits.
- Changed the background for the loading screen of the “Solomon Islands” map.
Maps and Locations
New Maps
Added two new maps (Ring and Haven) to the game.
Ring
This map is available at battle tiers IV–VI in Standard Battle and Domination modes. This map features a group of small tropical islands that visually resemble Hawaii, scattered somewhere in the Pacific. These islands are located at the border of interests between the Allied Forces and Imperial Japanese Navy. The map’s key element is a ring-like group of islands in its centre. These islands can provide reliable cover… or become a deadly trap. Holding the “ring” is an important strategic task because having control of this area will give your team an advantage over the opposing team.
If the opposing team managed to be the first to take control of this area, a concentrated attack will help to quickly regain your footing there. However, note that losing control of the islands’ area makes your team vulnerable to torpedo attacks from the centre of the map.
Otherwise, this map has enough open space for comfortable firing at long range.
Haven
The second new map in this update is “Haven”, available at battle tiers VII–X in Standard Battle and Domination modes.
Battles in this location will take place in an archipelago of small uninhabited islands somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. These islands are located at the fringe of the British Empire. They were formed under the influence of constant ocean winds and manifested in the natural landscape of this location, barren but beautiful in its own way.
This map is all about coordinated teamwork. The key areas are hard to capture, but numerous covered positions provide new opportunities for winning. There will be sudden engagements and frequent close-range encounters, so players may have to improvise with regard to tactics. This map presents a special challenge to battleship players, who will have to try and find advantageous positions for effective firing.
