World of Warships Closed Test 13.1: Dutch cruiser Prins Van Oranje
World of Warships is introducing Dutch cruiser Prins Van Oranje, Tier X, in update 13.1.
This ship is a variant of an unbuilt Dutch Navy super-heavy cruiser (Design 1047) with a different armament configuration. She got her name from a traditional one for the Royal Netherlands Navy. Minelayer Prins van Oranje, who disappeared in the Pacific War in the spring of 1942 with her sistership Gouden Leeuw, had this name before. If you like Gouden Leeuw, you will recognize this ship. She has good armor, strong AA suite, high-damage HE Bomb Airstrike, and great concealment, like her sister. But she also has some differences. She has twelve 234mm guns in three quadruple turrets as her main armament, which makes her a more conventional heavy cruiser. She can use the signature Dutch airstrike, but hers has a longer range and more damage. However, it also has longer cooldown and arrival times, so she relies more on her main battery. She has Hydroacoustic Search and Defensive AA Fire in different slots as her consumables. Prins Van Oranje is most effective in open waters. She can use her great concealment, heavy broadside, and good ballistics to fight and destroy the enemy. She can also support friendly destroyers with her guns from behind. Her airstrike can be hard to lead, but it can dig out stationary enemy positions well. But captains should be careful of enemy torpedoes because she is not very agile. And she may not win long fights with enemy battleships. We are still working on the permanent camouflage for Prins Van Oranje.
