World of Warships Naval Legends Cruiser Mikhail Kutuzov
Project 68-bis, or the Sverdlov-class cruisers, were in the heads of the Soviet engineers even before the outbreak of World War II. Due to historical circumstances, however, they first emerged in the early 1950’s. These cruisers would eventually become the last conventional artillery ships in the Soviet Navy, designed to cover operations performed by friendly destroyers or protect battleships against enemy torpedo attacks. Out of 14 examples built, only Mikhail Kutuzov has been preserved and now serves as a museum ship in the Russian city of Novorossiysk.
